One of the coolest travel trailers on the market has had a major makeover.
The new Bambi 422 travel trailer, which has been redesigned by Airstream for 2010, was recently unveiled at the National Boat, Caravan and Outdoor Show and is now available from Seddon Direct.
The new-look model is the most nimble and lightweight of the Airstream trailers and has been manufactured specifically for European roads and standards.
Small and practical with an exposed aluminium interior and front panoramic windows, it”s a very ”cute” looking trailer. It has a MIRO weight of 1080kg and loaded towing weight MTPLM of just 1320kg so you don’t need to own a 4×4 to tow one. The VW Golf Diesel 2.0 and BMW 330i are just two examples of vehicles that are more than capable of towing her. It really is a case of – hitch up and go.
The new Bambi 422 still has a spacious L-shaped lounge, mid-galley and end washroom including a shower cubicle suitable for six-footers and a vacuum flush toilet.

We recently attended the RHS Show at Tatton Park. The event included everything from flowers that could stand up to drought to show gardens to gardening equipment and furniture. ”Cool” and ”caravans” aren”t two words you often put together, but you”ve got to admit they don”t come much cooler than the Airstream. Brad Pitt has got one, Matthew McConaughey”s got three and Pamela Anderson”s has a mirrored ceiling, vibrating circular bed and a stripper”s pole!
Although the manufacturer Airstream Inc has been on the go in America since 1931, it is only now that the iconic aluminium travel trailers have been designed specifically for our narrow, twisty roads. The European version of the ”silver bullet” can also be towed by lighter cars (a VW Golf, for example) and meets EU homologation requirements. Not as wide, long or heavy as their American cousins, European Airstreams nonetheless have all the style and comfort for which the brand is famous.

With the season in full swing we’ve seen plenty of coverage for Honda”s Lawn & Garden range. Leading gadget magazine T3 acclaimed the HRX476QX as ‘Best for striped lawns’ in its June issue; The English Garden were very impressed when they took a spin on a HF2620; and the Daily Mail singled out the HRG415 for ‘starting easily and performing well’.

From 2010, individualism in the garden is on the rise, replacing conformity. Gone is the obsession with ‘keeping up with the neighbours’ … it’s now about expressing yourself using your outdoor space, encouraged by on-line friends. This is one of the insights from the second Global Garden Report from Husqvarna, based on 1.4 million blog posts from 13 countries.
As leading brands of gardening equipment, Husqvarna is continuously looking to learn more about the drivers, passions and expressions of gardening. In that quest, Husqvarna commissioned trend analysts to look closer at what some of the most passionate gardeners in the world say about their hobby – the garden bloggers.
A total of over 1.4m blog posts from 13 countries (Australia, Brazil, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Norway, Poland, Russia, South Africa, Sweden, UK and the US) from six continents were gathered and analyzed in the second Global Garden Report from Husqvarna.
The Global Garden Report shows that individualism in the garden is on the rise all over the world and that it is fuelled by the increased use of social media. Using blogs and microblogs to express their passions, garden enthusiasts are encouraged by their online garden friends to create their unique and individual style rather than peaking over their neighbours’ fences.
